Programme Information
In light of the UK government's recent announcement that Sheffield will be placed under Tier 3 restrictions when the country moves out of national lockdown on 2 December, we are disappointed to confirm that this concert has been cancelled.
Sadly, the tightened restrictions mean that live performances to a public audience are now not allowed, as they were previously. We're hugely disappointed by this, as it means we cannot invite ticket holders into Upper Chapel for our concerts this December.
All ticket-holders for 5 December will be contacted directly by box office about credit notes and/or refunds in the next few days. We kindly ask for your patience, there’s no need to contact either box office or us, as they will be in touch with all bookers as soon as possible. If you have any questions in the meantime, you can contact us on our office mobile 07523 779181 or by email at concerts@musicintheround.co.uk.
However, we are very excited to announce plans to live-stream our 7.00pm concert on 5 December with Ensemble 360 from Upper Chapel. Read more here.
BEETHOVEN String Quartet No.5, Op.18 No.5
DVOŘÁK Piano Quartet No.2, Op.87
Beethoven’s quartets explore every possible human emotion, and in his Fifth String Quartet he wrote some of the most uplifting and sparkling of all his music, in which the most perfectly simple melodies are thrown about amongst the four musicians, like a game. Dvořák’s Second Piano Quartet is no less playful, but here the music also takes on a more dramatic and impassioned nature, saturated in rich harmonies and soaring, rhapsodic tunes.
