Ruth Gibson joins Ensemble 360

Ensemble 360 and Music in the Round welcome violist Ruth Gibson to Ensemble 360.

Adrian Wilson, of Ensemble 360, said:

'We were very happy to announce during our recent Sheffield May Festival at the Crucible Theatre Studio that Ruth Gibson has been appointed as violist in Ensemble 360 and we welcome her to the group!'

Irish Violist Ruth Gibson enjoys a varied musical career, performing as soloist and chamber musician across the UK and Europe. During her undergraduate at the RNCM, she founded the Finzi Quartet and was winner of numerous awards in chamber music. As an Allcard Winner of the Worshipful Company of Musicians and the Ian Fleming award in 2009, Ruth continued her studies at the Royal College of Music with Lawrence Power. In 2010, Ruth performed Holst’s Lyric Movement for Viola and Orchestra on BBC4 and subsequently with Sir John Eliot Gardiner and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra in 2011.

As well as her membership of Ensemble 360, Ruth plays regularly with Scottish Ensemble and Nash Ensemble and recently performed at Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall and the Berliner Philharmonie. She is currently on trial for Principal Viola with Manchester Camerata and was also selected as Park Lane Group Solo artist this year, having recently performed the solo viola works of Penderecki at the Purcell Room. As founder and artistic director of the String Quartet Collective, she has held a chamber music residency at the RCM since 2013.
