SIBELIUS Andante Festivo for string quartet

What can we learn from pictorial representations of musicians throughout the ages? What does the word ‘harmony’ mean to artists? Why does music trigger the visualisation of colours for some people (synaesthesia) and and how has this affected composers?

Guiding us through these questions and others are Tim Shephard and Simon Shaw-Miller, contributors to the Routledge Companion to Music and Visual Culture and facilitator Kim Streets,  with members of Ensemble 360 on hand to play music by synaesthetic composers Franz Liszt and Jean Sibelius.

Complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits will be served from 1.30pm
