Excellence and access are central to all we do; our concerts are, wherever possible, played in the round, they feature lively spoken introductions and sometimes pre-concert talks and post-concert opportunities to meet musicians.
Our concert home is the Crucible Studio Theatre, Sheffield, a wonderful in-the-round space where no-one is more than a few feet from the musicians giving a unique and exhilarating listening experience. We present concerts throughout each Autumn and Spring as well as weekend mini-Festival and a full-blown nine-day Festival each May. Concerts include programmes with Ensemble 360 as well as guest artists from home and abroad. The bedrock of our programme is classical chamber music (for both adults and children) but we work in partnership with Sheffield Jazz and present occasional folk and world chamber groups.
We have an annual concert series in Barnsley, at Emmanuel Church, and in Doncaster, at Cast. Ensemble 360 is at the heart of both of these series having developed a strong relationship with the audiences there. The Ensemble programmes a mix of classical chamber-music repertoire from the well-known and familiar to more rarely heard gems and some contemporary and children’s works.
Nationally, we work with a number of partner venues in Cumbria, Portsmouth, Milton Keynes, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Scarborough, Warwick and Wiltshire, to support the development of concert series in their area. Each venue and audience is unique but they all have in common a commitment to ensure chamber music is part of their cultural offering.
